And here's some great advice from a new rider:
Safety - Here are some basic safety tips for bike riding. Wear a helmet and be sure you have the right size, one that fits snugly so that when you adjust the straps, it won't slide around on your head. If you haven’t ridden a bike in a while, take it easy at the beginning and keep your rides short initially to let your body adjust to your riding. Always stay to the right but don't hug the curb as garbage and road debris collects there, so keep 2 to 3 feet from the curb side. Allow enough room on your left to let cars to pass and always use hand signals when turning. Be sure your bike has reflectors and a light; both front and back, if you ride at night or in low-light conditions. Have your bicycle serviced every year to increase performance and extend your bicycle's lifespan.
