4th ANNUAL COMMUNITY BIKE RIDE
Community rallies to promote wellness and recovery from mental illness at the Canadian Mental Health Association's Annual Community Bike Ride!
What an amazing day we had at CMHA's 4th Annual Community Bike Ride and congratulations to the nearly 500 riders who participated in this fun-filled community event.
Not only did we have close to 500 riders on one of the two routes, 20K or 50K, we also had 1,300 people make a donation in support of these riders for a current total of $75,000 and the donations are still coming in! Due to the generosity of our sponsors, 100% of these funds will be invested in programs and services to serve the 1 in 5 of our colleagues, friends and family members who need support.
While we celebrate these individuals, we are also tremendously grateful to all of our riders and the donors who supported them. Everyone came with their own story - some were riding for children's mental health, others in support of individuals who are homeless while another group trumpeted the value of mental health promotion. At the end of the day, we continue to follow the paths of those who inspired us, Michael Schratter from Ride Don’t Hide, Chris Reynolds from Central Vancouver Cycling Club and Mel Thompson of XEROX Canada, all united in riding, not hiding, when it comes to supporting mental wellness and recovery.
We also applaud our 100+ dedicated volunteers who came to support us as route marshals, support riders, registration helpers, and food station assistants. Your hard work made it possible for us to host a successful 2012 ride.
We invite you to keep the dialogue open. Please share your stories with us through-out the year until we ride again in June 2013.

This is incredible! A little boy from the Okanagan made a video about mental health featuring Michael Schratter of Ride Don’t Hide. What an incredible accomplishment! If you have a moment, take a look and vote for him! Help spread the word! Thank you.
