Please join us and give your support to make our 4th Annual Community Bike Ride a success this summer.
The Community Bike Ride is our signature event and this year, we expect hundreds of riders to come out and raise awareness and funds and show support for those living with mental illness. This large scale event brings together cyclists of all levels to enjoy one of the two scenic routes in Vancouver and Burnaby. Our goal is to put on a great event and raise funds to support much-needed programs and services of CMHA, improving the lives of those living with mental illness.
Last year, together, with the support of our sponsors, donors, volunteers and the 177 riders who participated in the ride, we raised more than $44,000 for the Super Saturday Club Kids Program and also provided mental health resources in the community.
Starting this year, we are honored to partner with Ride Don’t Hide to create a larger event. A bike ride raises awareness. Your support adds a voice to the importance of mentally health communities and an end to stigma and discrimination.
On August 1, 2010 Michael Schratter, a Vancouver school teacher and newspaper columnist, embarked on a global journey to cycle 40,000 km, across six continents and 30 countries to raise funds for mental illness. His mission: to circumnavigate the world, sharing stories with people in different countries, and in doing so to bring attention and awareness to the stigma surrounding mental illness.
Our bike ride raises awareness and funds that make a significant difference in our community. This public event is a positive message about the importance of building mental health through exercise, joining in and giving back. The event creates awareness and reduces stigma on the streets of Vancouver and Burnaby while raising money for our community education services. Your support adds a voice to the importance of mentally healthy communities and an end to stigma and discrimination.
We invite you to join us at this exceptional event as we raise awareness of mental health issues and give back to the community. Save the date for our 4th Annual Community Bike Ride in 2012 and we’ll see you there!
